Northrop Grumman’s Salt Lake City Employees Donate More Than 2,500 Pounds of Food to Utah Food Bank

Aerospace, Press Releases

SALT LAKE CITY – Oct. 21, 2014 – Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) employees in Salt Lake City recently collected more than 2,500 pounds of food donations for Utah Food Bank.

The week-long food drive, which incorporated friendly competition among departmental teams, was part of the facility’s celebration of Manufacturing Day on Oct. 3.

“To have such a large donation come together in such a short amount of time is an amazing success story and we are grateful for the support of Northrop Grumman’s staff,” said Ginette Bott, Utah Food Bank’s chief development officer. “This donation will provide almost 2,100 meals for Utahns struggling with hunger.”

Last year, Utah Food Bank distributed 37.5 million pounds of food, the equivalent of more than 31 million meals, via a statewide network of 134 partner agencies located in all 29 counties in Utah.

“Our employees really banded together to collect these food items for families in need, surpassing our goal by more than double and setting a new record,” said Jim Lupica, site director of Northrop Grumman’s Salt Lake City facility. “Our employees treat each other like family members and we are happy to help other families and individuals in the community.”

Led by the U.S. Department of Commerce, in partnership with public and private sector leaders across the country, Manufacturing Day highlighted the contributions of manufacturers to the economic health of the United States.

Northrop Grumman is a leading global security company providing innovative systems, products and solutions in unmanned systems, cyber, C4ISR, and logistics and modernization to government and commercial customers worldwide.
