Patients at St. Luke’s Benefit from Low Dose, High-Image-Quality Exams
St. Luke’s Upgrades its Toshiba Aquilion 64 CT with VeloCT to Provide the Best CT Solution for Patients
TUSTIN, Calif., May 13, 2014 – St. Luke’s Boise Medical Center provides safer CT exams to patients with the recent upgrade of its Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. AquilionTM 64 CT system. Providing an upgrade solution that fits the facility’s needs for today, tomorrow and beyond, St. Luke’s installed Toshiba’s VeloCT console with AIDR 3D dose reduction technology and 128 double slice reconstruction, and has achieved dose reduction for brain, chest and abdominal imaging by 30, 60 and 59 percent respectively.[1]
VeloCT with AIDR 3D also helps St. Luke’s meet the needs of MITA’s XR-29 Smart Dose standard, which includes features that manage radiation dose without compromising diagnostic image quality.
“As the main CT used for pediatric, cardiac and ER patients at our Boise campus, the system is able to maintain lower radiation dose for patients who are the most sensitive and those who receive numerous exams,” said Einav Shochat, M.D., St. Luke’s Health System. “After upgrading our Aquilion 64 with VeloCT, the image quality has improved and dose has been reduced significantly.”
At St. Luke’s, the Aquilion 64 is a workhorse machine, used in the Emergency Department to perform a wide range of diagnostic CT exams including cardiac scans and CT pulmonary angiograms.
